Your assetsProtectedacross borders.
When a separation, divorce or division of property involves assets in other countries, we combine family law, private international law and strategic litigation. Together with Fextor, we locate the assets and work to protect and recover them in Ecuador and abroad.
Assets that cross a border are still part of the family estate. We follow them wherever they are, with lawyers, investigators and experts coordinated across several countries.
From the first lead to recovery.
A cross-border case demands order: first, knowing what exists and where; then securing it; and finally, enforcing your rights before the courts of each country.

General answers to common questions. Every case is different: write to us to review yours in confidence.
01Are assets abroad part of the marital estate?
In principle, assets acquired during the marriage may form part of the marital estate even if they are outside the country. Which law applies and which court decides depends on each asset and each country, so every case requires a private international law analysis.
02How are hidden assets located in another country?
By combining asset investigation, analysis of corporate and financial structures, public registry information and, where appropriate, judicial cooperation mechanisms. Fextor supports this stage with investigators and experts.
03Can interim measures be requested over assets abroad?
Yes. They can be requested through judicial cooperation treaties and agreements or directly before the courts of the country where the assets are located. The most effective route depends on each jurisdiction.
04Does a foreign divorce judgment have effect in Ecuador?
To be enforced in Ecuador, a foreign judgment must be recognized through an exequatur (homologación) proceeding before the competent court. We support you through that process and the subsequent enforcement.
05How does this service relate to family law?
It complements family law when assets cross borders. We work alongside our family law and asset recovery practices to deliver a single strategy.
